Note: Read Winning and possibly People and my other works in order to get fully excited about this.

The day after you’ve been “dumped” (and I use that term lightly) is probably one the worst days you can have.  For me, I sat around all day.  I made two new remixes.  I watched Breaking Bad.  I went to Corner Bakery with my dad.  And I texted Claire.

In typical eighth grade fashion, Claire was hellbent on remaining friends.  She told me she wasn’t looking for a relationship, but she wanted to be friends.  But I didn’t know what to say.  I didn’t know what to say at all.

I went to watch the Super Bowl at my grandparents house and there, my cousin and his girlfriend sat interlocked next to me.  It wasn’t that they were two attractive people better than me, because they weren’t.  They referenced Nintendo too much and were both very unattractive.  They were nerds.  But they’re physical contact and talk in front of my grandma was enough.  I was alone and they weren’t.  And it sucked.

My dad drove me home and together we sat in silence as I thought over the weekend and it’s many wrongs.  But as I did so, I pulled up in front of my house to see a big sign on my front lawn (see above).  I rushed out of the car to examine it and there it was: a Turnabout invitation from Hope.  I was stunned.

In fact, I still am.  Here was a girl who had hid in her seat less than 24 hours ago; had left the theater early as not to see me.  And now here it was, a question; would I go to turnabout with her.

At that time, Claire texted me something about the Super Bowl in her attempt at friendship.  I told her about the sign and she said cool.  But that wasn’t enough for me.  I texted her: “Haha I hate to say it but I’m cute and make sick remixes and girls like that u just missed out.”  And she hasn’t texted back.

But it’s true.  I am cute.  I do make sick remixes.  I’m funny and smart and Claire shot me down.  And within the same day, here it was: an invitation from someone who I thought was gone.  But apparently she wasn’t.

So I’m going to Turnabout with Hope.  xoxo

Oh my god! Now we know Hope’s real name! (I’m reliving high school vicariously through you, @ohmeohyou, thanks)
